Going Back to School: A Crazy Decision for a Crazy Time

Today I am sharing some exciting news about my conference interpreting career:
As of this month, I've enrolled in the MA in Conference Interpretation program at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey as an advanced entry student, and will be working towards the MACI degree (Chinese/English interpretation) in the next 9 months.

"You are already 'established' in the market. Why become a student again?" This would be a logical question for anyone to ask.

Well, the nature of my work as a freelancer means I have to juggle multiple roles: I'm Rony the interpreter, Rony the salesperson, Rony the IT specialist, and sometimes Rony the trainer... The truth is that the part of my job that I enjoy the most is being Rony the learner. I enjoy learning so much that I've decided to become a serious student again, a crazy decision for a crazy time!

Proud to have behind me the name of this prestigious institute (both literally and figuratively)

While the pandemic is still limiting our ability to travel, meet and do our job the way it used to be done, now is the best time to work on acquiring future-proof credentials and skills.

Proud to have behind me the name of this prestigious institute (both literally and figuratively) for the next 9 months and beyond.

学无止境,与诸君共勉!

Rony is an experienced conference interpreter based in Toronto. He takes pleasure in bridging the cultural gap between Chinese speakers and English speakers.
